FREE lesson for Indigenous Female Surfers under 21yrs old by Invitation only
The Saltwater Sistas program empowers Indigenous girls to embrace surfing in a safe,inclusive, and culturally supportive environment, offering a unique opportunity foryoung Indigenous women to connect with the ocean and their community.
Participants enjoy all-female surf lessons tailored to their needs, with free access toequipment and transportation (if possible) to eliminate barriers to participation.
In addition to beginner surfing opportunities, Surfing Sistas provides pathways for high-performance coaching, competitions, and even surf coach certifications to ensuresustainable representation of Indigenous females in the surfing community.
Eligibility Criteria:
Indigenous girls aged 5-21 years
Commitment to participating in weekly surf lessons
Reside within transportable distance to program locations on the CentralCoast, NSW
This program is proudly supported by the Australian Government Department of Health's Play Our Way Program.
Together, we're fostering physical health, cultural connection, and empowerment for Indigenous girls through surfing.
Next lesson wednesday 15th Jan
Pickup from GNL Wyong at 1pm by minibus
2-3pm Toowoon Bay surf lesson
Return drop to Wyong GNL by 3:30pm
Pickup from GNL Wyong at 1pm
Dropoff to GNL Wyong at 3:30
CCSA will provide the essential items, however it is reccomended to bring the following;
- Swimmers
- Sunscreen
- Water
- Towel
- Hat
- Other individual sun protection items
CCSA provides the following for all participants:
- Foam surfboards
- Rashvests
- Sunscreen
Please note all participants must sign a Waiver before participating in a CCSA lesson, participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign on their behalf. CCSA staff reserve the right to not allow particpation in a lesson if a waiver has not been signed.
